2024 AIA Sinuhé Vega Negrin

The Artist in Action program offers non-residential studio space at the Maitland Art Center to local emerging, mid-career, or established artists.

Rent-free studio space is awarded to selected artists for a year-long term, providing a place for professional practice and research within a supportive, historic setting.

Reflecting Jules André Smith's founding ideals, the Artist in Action program gives artists a place to create and experiment away from the demands of commercial production. Artists in Action benefit from a visible, working studio environment at the Maitland Art Center, opportunities to engage with visitors and the community, and a connection to a lineage of artistic innovation that dates back to the center’s earliest days.

Applications for the 2025-2026 season will open June 15. Email [email protected] for more information.
